Join Safe Harbor Church as we present Music on the Patio at the new Starbucks location in Alabaster, AL on Hwy 31 south (click here for directions). This series will continue through three Friday nights in September. We kick off the three weeks of music with Fuller and Vinny, two of our very own musicians on Friday, Sept 12th. On Friday Sept 19th, we will hear from the very talented Mandy Langford. And we close out the month with Erik and Haley, two very talented young singers/songwriters on Sept 26th.  We hope you can join us!

If you are interested in participating in a future concert series please e-mail Luke Camara.

Update on the Lains

Apr 30th, 2008 by admin | 0 comments

Here’s some info about one of our favorite missionary families - Larry, Krista, Averi & Eli Lain.  Below is a list of stuff: their schedule, prayer needs and financial needs.  You can also subscribe to their blog here.

WHERE IN THE WORLD ARE THE LAINS?

MAY
• 2 weeks in Indiana staying in a cabin near Larry’s family’s house
• 2 weeks in Michigan staying with Krista’s parents
JUNE
• 4 weeks in Chicago area to go to Wheaton College for Pre-Field Orientation & 2nd Language Acquisition training (to learn how to learn a language)
• Staying with Krista’s brother and her uncle and possibly camping in the area to save on housing costs
JULY
• Drive to Baton Rouge to drop off our vehicle and pick up our luggage
• Fly to California to visit with the Stirring and RKCC on July 6th (in Redding till the 10th or 11th and then in Santa Rosa area until we fly out on the 17th)
• Off to Mongolia on July 17th
LESS THAN 12 WEEKS UNTIL TAKEOFF TIME!

PRAYER NEEDS:
• Pray for peace during all of our transitions
• Pray for good times with our families before we leave
• Pray for our parents as they prepare to say goodbye (especially hard to say goodbye to grandchildren)
• Pray for great connections with other missionaries during our time in Chicago
• Pray for the kids…while we are in Chicago they will be with grandparents 5 hours away for 4 weeks (Pray for mommy and daddy too! We will be missing them!)
• Pray that we will accomplish all the “odds & ends” before we leave
• Pray for continued wisdom on what to bring and what NOT to bring
• Pray for the rest of our monthly support to come in…only about 5% to go!
• Pray that CAMA will begin receiving support from individuals who are committing to support us monthly
• Pray that God will continue to give us hearts for the Mongolian people
• Pray for our home-stay with a Mongolian family upon arriving to the field. We will be living in a “ger” (a felt tent) in the same yard as our Mongolian family!
• Pray that we will get along really well with other families on the field
• Pray for CAMA and the GCF(Great Commission Fund)…that giving will really increase the rest of this year so more families may be sent out this fall or early next year

FINANCIAL NEEDS:
• $10/month CLUB…we are praying that 20 individuals/families will join so that we can reach 100% of our monthly support!!!
Some large expenses coming up:
• $250 to ship one box of personal items (mostly books) to Mongolia
• Approximately $200 extra for luggage costs….We are now only allowed 4-50 lb bags instead of 8! Airlines are beginning to charge $25 for each additional bag, which will be $100 in the states and another $100 to fly internationally.
• $850 remaining balance for Wheaton college (which doesn’t include food or housing)
• $800 to finalize Eli’s adoption
• $140 to pay for the stitches Eli got while we were in California in February (he fell on one of the dollies at RKCC after the service and punctured his skin near his elbow)
• GAS MONEY for all our traveling. It is costing us about $75 for each 6 hour trip and so far we have traveled about five 6-8 hour stretches and we have about five more to go=approximately $750
• We are also praying about purchasing a digital SLR before we go…Mongolians love pictures and I love taking them!!! I really hope to capture our experience while we are there so we can share it with you. Pray that we can find a really good deal on a camera ☺
